At any given phase of life (college, working & single, married, 1 child, 2 children) one feels like they have no time to do things that they want to do and look back at the previous phase with envy (of so much time the previous phase had).
When I was in college, I felt I didn’t have time to spend with my friends. Always driven by the mid-semester and semester exam schedules. When I was working & single, I looked back at my college phase and thought ‘wow, I had so much free time!’. Then I got married and I thought the same thing about my previous phase, then we got a child and now we have 2 children!
I guess you get the drift, whichever phase you are in now, believe me you have more time than what you might get in the next phase. It is absolutely hard to imagine or believe that you have any “extra” time that you can give to someone else in the next phase (work, spouse, kids, elderly parents etc) but there are people doing it and I’m sure you have seen those people in your lives.
If you are thinking ‘I know it’s important but I don’t have the time’, I share this video with them.
So, whenever I feel like there is no way I can squeeze in one more thing in my life, I just think about the next phase of my life and I tell myself “I am sure I have more time now but I just don’s see it”. Yes, it means I have to wake up at 5:30 am. Yes, it means I can’t binge watch 4 episodes of a series in a day. But, when I prioritize what is important, there is time for everything, always.
